Anyone bitching about the topic matter of this game is missing the point.
It's showing the tragic consequences that lead to behaviours which causes children to eventually grow into psychopathic serial killers. Glasses kid's disturbed fetish with punching is instigated by the trauma of the death of his mother, and is fostered by a twisted view of natural selection.
The macabre and uncanny gameplay and art style perfectly illustrate the psychological landscape of this disturbed kid, the the knock-on effect it has on his best friend.
Great job guys. Remember, it took idiots a few years to call Monet's stuff art, so pay no attention to the rest of these 'reviews'.
I'm studying film at University, so I watch a LOT of movies. Of course that includes any of the horror genre designed to make you want to run for the light switch like a little girl. Of course... none of them really nail it -- any to be honest, few games do either.
But reading that epilogue in the dark on my laptop was just amazingly creepy, yet sad all at the same time.
This game is amazing. On an artistic level - haunting. On a pragmatic one - it's another example of how unnecessary AAA style graphics are in a game to convey an amazing and emotive narrative.

One of the very few games with 'true detective work'. Many games you have a selection of suspects, and even some where you make a choice of the final killer, but none as emmersive as this, and there is not cheese-ball 'if it weren't for you medling kids!' confession, which i liked. The clues were vague, misleading, and pointed to a number of people, so it was all down to weighing up case evidence, rather than clear-cut answers. Maybe bring in forensics for the second?
I was pretty chuffed when i got it first time, although usually i'm certain at the end of a game, in this case i was about 50/50 with my no.2 suspect!
I'm only giving a nine due to some glitches in the game with the sound and the fact i had to hunt down the answer on your site.

Died at 120. Somehow my death was due to my lack of Ringo Star trivia...
